Kabaneri Turns Ten, and WIT Studio Is Nearly Invisible in a Free Catalogue

Ten years on, the free shelf is nearly bare

A new animated short from WIT Studio has been released as part of a tenth-anniversary project for Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, reported by Anime Corner on 28 July 2026. We do not know the short's runtime, its staff, or where it can be watched, so this article makes no claim on any of that.

What we can report is what an anniversary usually prompts a reader to do: go and watch the thing. On animesphere.app, that is not possible. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is a 2016 television series of 12 episodes, and we index three Kabaneri film entries alongside it. All four hold zero rows in our catalogue. Not region-locked, not demoted below something else — nothing at all. Re-queried today, the answer is still nothing.

The studio audit, including the trap

We index 97 entries with WIT Studio credited. Of those 97, exactly six have any free episode a reader in the United States can open. That number alone would be misleading, because the largest of the six is a trap.

Attack on Titan shows 25 free episodes reachable from the US. Every one of them is the French dub. The uploads carry "[French Dub]" in their titles and their caption data is French, which confirms the audio. The same channel does hold English-tagged uploads of those same 25 episodes, but the permitted-country list on those does not include the United States. A tool that counted rows would report 25 free Attack on Titan episodes and be wrong about all 25.

The other five, all verified today:

• Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign — 3 free episodes, no region restriction, from the verified Crunchyroll Dubs channel. Caption data on episode 1 is auto-recognised English, confirming the English dub.
• Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring — 3 free episodes with the US permitted, uploaded by Crunchyroll and marked SUB/DUB.
• The Ancient Magus' Bride — exactly 1 free episode, an English dub, unrestricted.
• Vinland Saga — exactly 1 free episode.
• My Deer Friend Nokotan — 3 free episodes. We have not verified the audio language, so we are not claiming one.

Six entries out of 97, and only one of them offers more than three episodes.

What is actually watchable

Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign is the reachable WIT pick, at three dubbed episodes.

For a reader who wants a complete series rather than a sample, the recommendation is Boogiepop Phantom, which is not a WIT title. All 12 episodes are free and permitted in the United States and Canada, from the It's Anime channel. Caption data shows an authored English subtitle track over Japanese audio. We checked all 12 uploads individually: the channel numbers them 1 through 12 exactly as we do, and no two episodes point at the same video. It is a 2000 series of 12 episodes, animated by MADHOUSE and Triangle Staff, filed under Drama, Horror, Mystery, Psychological and Supernatural. We are not claiming it resembles Kabaneri — those tags are all we hold on its content.
