Sasaki Isaburo is the commander of Mimawarigumi. His character is based on the leader of the real Mimawarigumi, Sasaki Tadasaburo. Sasaki Isaburo was born into the elite samurai family Sasaki, as the main heir. He is also the half brother to Sasaki Tetsunosuke.
