A Chiikawa Film Opened at Number One. Chiikawa Is Not Free Here, but 1,524 Short Episodes Are.
Our free shelf holds 336 series that run 15 minutes or less an episode. Two of those runs were checked upload by upload today.

A Chiikawa anime film opened in the number one chart position, Anime News Network reported on July 30. The Kamen Rider Zeztz and Super Space Sheriff Gavan crossover film entered at number five, and the fifth live-action Kingdom film slipped to number three.
That placement is the entire extent of what we know about the chart. What we can speak to in detail is our own free catalogue, and on Chiikawa the honest answer goes first.
Chiikawa itself is not here
Our index carries two Chiikawa entries. One is the television series, which we file as short-format with a two-minute episode length, dating to spring 2022. The other is the film, dated summer 2026. Both carry the same two genre tags, Comedy and Slice of Life. Neither one has a single episode row attached, not a free episode, not an episode of any kind. If you came looking to watch Chiikawa, we do not have it for you.
What our free shelf holds at that sort of length
The two-minute figure above belongs to the television series in our index, not to the film that charted. Episodes that short are well represented on our free shelf. Across the whole catalogue, 759 series hold at least one free episode a viewer in the United States can reach, and those come to 6,374 free episodes. We have a per-episode runtime recorded for 722 of the 759.
- 336 of those 722 run 15 minutes or less per episode, and they account for 1,524 free episodes.
- 147 of them run five minutes or less per episode, accounting for 325 free episodes.
Two of them, checked episode by episode today
Little Shark's Day Out holds 60 free episodes from its first season and 13 from its second. The channel numbers them continuously, so they play straight through from the first to the 73rd with no gap. The second season runs to 72 episodes in total, so 13 of those are the free ones. We checked all 73 uploads today: every one loaded, no two of them turned out to be the same episode, and the numbering held up throughout. No region restriction is recorded. The uploads carry an authored English subtitle track over Japanese audio. Episodes run between 97 and 110 seconds, which puts those 73 at a little over two hours in total. The channel belongs to the series itself and does not carry a verified badge; the series is distributed on YouTube by its own production.
Atashin'chi gives you 219 free episodes on the series' own official channel, which does carry a verified badge. No region restriction is recorded. All 219 uploads were checked today: every one loaded, and no two of them are the same episode. Every one of the 219 titles carries an English-subtitle marker, and the uploads carry an authored English subtitle track over Japanese audio. Sampled runtimes came in at 406 and 542 seconds, so figure roughly seven to nine minutes an episode.
Neither one is Chiikawa. Both are short, both are free here, and both were checked upload by upload today.
