Crunchyroll and Starz have announced a bundle for viewers in the United States, offered through Amazon Prime Video at US$16.99 per month. That report comes from Anime News Network, and the two services, the platform it is offered through, the country and the monthly figure are the whole of what we have on it.

So here is the part we can actually measure. Crunchyroll runs its own YouTube channels, and our index tracks the free episodes sitting on them. This is what our index holds for a viewer in the United States.

122 episodes across 91 series, mostly one apiece

Counting only Crunchyroll's two English-facing YouTube channels, our index holds 122 free episodes a United States viewer can reach, spread across 91 series. The distribution is the real story. 79 of those 91 series hold exactly one episode. Nine hold episodes 1, 2 and 3. One holds episodes 1 and 2. One holds five. One holds nine. For the large majority of these titles, our index of these two channels holds a single episode and no more.

The deepest run belongs to RILAKKUMA, with nine episodes. They are episodes 9 through 17; episodes 1 to 8 are not there. Each of the nine runs 90 seconds, putting the whole run at about thirteen and a half minutes. Every upload in it is titled as a dubbed episode with its number, the numbering matches ours on all nine, and YouTube's English speech recogniser produced English captions on them, so the audio is English.

A further 55 series show as free in the United States in our index only because one of Crunchyroll's regional channels, its Brazilian, German, Italian or Spanish-language channels, permits United States viewers. Across those four channels our index holds 157 United States-reachable episodes over 120 series. They are not English-facing channels, which is why they sit outside the 122.

Three we checked against the uploads today
