A New Gundam Lands in 2027, Here's Which Gundam Is Free Now
Bandai Namco Filmworks has set Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO for 2027, so here is exactly which Gundam our free catalogue can and cannot finish.

A 2027 series, and very little else on the record
Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO is a new television anime from Bandai Namco Filmworks, slated for 2027. Kenji Kamiyama is helming it, and the credit attached to his name in the announcement is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The series is positioned as one component of a new multimedia effort referred to as the RG project. Takeo Otsuka stars as the lead, a war orphan pilot. The setting is 45 years after an alien takeover.
That last detail is the one worth sitting with, if only because 45 is a specific figure rather than a round one, far enough out that the takeover is history rather than headline news inside the story. The announcements say no more than that. How the machines look, what month it airs, who else is attached: not stated, and guessing at it is not our job.
Four Gundam runs you can actually finish for free
2027 is a way off, so here is the more immediately useful part. Bandai Namco operates an official international Gundam channel on YouTube, and AnimeSphere indexes it. Four titles there are complete, with no region restriction on any of them.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is up in full. All 49 episodes, in the HD remaster, Japanese audio carrying an authored English subtitle track that we confirmed on the first, a middle and the final episode. Endless Waltz is complete too, all three of its parts, subtitle track confirmed the same way. On the recent end, both halves of The Witch from Mercury run complete at 12 episodes apiece, in English dub, with one wrinkle worth knowing: episodes 2 through 12 of the first season sit on the Gundam channel, while episode 1 lives on Crunchyroll's own channel, also labelled as an English dub.
Added together, that is 76 episodes of Gundam that begin and end.
Where the free catalogue stops
Now the honest part. After War Gundam X is free and reachable from the US, but at 30 of its 39 episodes it stops before the ending, treat it as an extended sample rather than something you can complete. Its uploads carry an authored English subtitle track, spot-checked at three points across the run.
The 1979 original is the sharper disappointment. Exactly one of its 43 episodes is free, and that one episode carries English subtitles. Anyone assuming the foundational entry is the easy free starting point has it backwards: Wing is the one you can finish.
Everything else on the shelf is a single episode with nothing after it. That covers both SD Gundam World titles, Sangoku Soketsuden and Heroes, along with Gundam Build Divers, Unicorn RE:0096, Gundam 00, G Gundam, Gundam SEED, and the Witch from Mercury prologue. If a Gundam series is not named somewhere in this article, we do not have it free here.
