Studio SHAFT Has a New Anime. Across 125 SHAFT Entries We Index, Not One Free Episode
A first trailer for Just Like Mona Lisa, and a studio-wide zero on our own shelf. Two complete runs we checked upload by upload are the honest alternative.

Studio SHAFT has a new anime. Just Like Mona Lisa, listed in Japanese as Seibetsu "Mona Lisa" no Kimi e, has put out a first trailer and named its main staff and cast, as reported by Anime Corner. It is worth being clear about the limits of what we have: a trailer exists, and the people making the thing have been identified.
The more useful question for anyone reading this on AnimeSphere is a different one. If a studio's name is in the news, what of that studio can you watch free on AnimeSphere right now?
The SHAFT number is zero
We ran it against our own index on 2026-08-01. There are 125 entries in the AnimeSphere catalogue that list SHAFT among their studios. Not one of those 125 carries a single free episode. Not in the United States, and not in any region.
The breakdown is thin in a way that is easy to state. Of the 125, 120 carry no source rows at all, nothing attached to them whatsoever. The remaining five carry only music rows, 7 rows between them, and no episodes.
We are not going to dress that up. An announcement is a fine thing to read about, but it does not put anything on your screen tonight, and neither does the rest of the studio's shelf in our index.
Two complete runs you can actually finish
So here is the trade: two titles we checked against the uploads themselves on 2026-08-01, both complete from first episode to last.
Boogiepop Phantom, from 2000, runs 12 episodes, and all 12 are free and reachable in the United States and Canada on the channel "It's Anime powered by REMOW". We checked every one of the 12: each upload is titled as a full episode, the numbering runs exactly 1 through 12 with no gaps, each runs between 1413 and 1443 seconds, and each carries an authored English subtitle track alongside Japanese audio.
Sherlock Hound, from 1984, runs 26 episodes, and all 26 are free on Anime! on TMS Official Channel, which carries a verified badge. We checked all 26 as well: the titles run EP01 through EP26, the numbering is exact, each is labelled English Dub and Full Episode, each runs about 1504 seconds, and the caption data is English speech recognition, which confirms the audio is English.
Two different shapes of viewing, then:
- Boogiepop Phantom for subtitled Japanese audio across 12 episodes
- Sherlock Hound for an English dub across 26 episodes
Neither is offered here as a stand-in for the studio in the headline. They are offered because they are finishable, the numbering holds up, and we looked at every upload before saying so. That is a smaller promise than a trailer makes, and it is one we can keep.
