Ticket sales for Walpurgisnacht Rising, the newest Madoka Magica film, have passed one billion yen. It took four days, and a new commercial went out alongside the news, as reported by Anime Corner.
What the count found
Our magical-girl genre label is inherited, not assigned by us, and it covers series a reader might not file that way: Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story -if-, a card-game show, carries it. Television entries carrying the label number 202, and we swept all 202 live pages twice.
Seven state a free episode count, 62 episodes between them. Of the 202, 47 come from before 2000 and 155 from 2000 onward. Six of the seven sit in the older group, and one is from 2020. The two rates are 6 of 47, and 1 of 155. Both are small: 41 of those 47 older entries also state nothing.
The seven, with the count each states:
- Fushigi na Melmo, 1971, 1
- Fairy Princess Minky Momo, 1982, 1
- Mahou no Angel Sweet Mint, 1990, 1
- Fairy Princess Minky Momo 2nd, 1991, 1
- Magic Knight Rayearth, 1994, 20
- Magic User's Club! (TV), 1999, 13
- Cardfight!! Vanguard Extra Story -if-, 2020, 25
Three of them account for 58 of the 62: Rayearth, the Cardfight!! Vanguard entry and Magic User's Club!. The other four state one episode each.
The titles that are not on it
Eight titles a reader would name first sit inside the 202, none of them stating a free count: Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Princess Tutu, Symphogear, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, FLIP FLAPPERS and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story.
Madoka Magica is a blank here. Our index holds eight entries for it: the 2011 television series, three earlier films, the new one, recorded as a 2026 film, and three Magia Record entries. All eight state no free episode count, and our database holds zero free episode rows for every one, retired rows included.
What is watchable
Magic User's Club! (TV), a 1999 series of 13 episodes at 24 minutes, states 13 free episodes on its live page, the complete run. Every row sits on the Nozomi Entertainment channel, which carries no YouTube verified badge. Episodes 1 and 2 have no country restriction; 3 through 13 are allow-listed to Canada and the United States. No caption track is exposed. A frame from the middle of the episode 1 upload we checked shows an English subtitle line burned into the picture itself, so on that episode the subtitles are part of the video, not a track a viewer turns on. The uploads run 1,494 to 1,505 seconds, so they are whole episodes.
Magic Knight Rayearth, a 1994 series of 20 episodes at 24 minutes, states 20 free episodes, the whole run. Its rows sit on the Anime! on TMS Official Channel, which does carry a verified badge, and their allow-list includes the United States. Episodes 1 and 20 were opened today. Each reports an automatic English caption track, meaning the audio itself is English, and each title ends with English Dub. That is a dub, not the burned-in subtitles of Magic User's Club!. The two run 1,475 and 1,477 seconds.
