Netflix dates the third Mononoke film for September 29. Nothing of Mononoke is free here
A mystery census: 428 television entries in our index, 23 of them stating a free episode, and 15 of those 23 stating exactly one.

Netflix has set the twenty-ninth of September as the day the third Mononoke film begins streaming worldwide, according to Anime News Network. The film carries the subtitle Chapter III, The Curse of the Serpent, and it opened in Japanese cinemas on the twenty-ninth of May.
Anyone who reads that and comes here looking for Mononoke will find nothing of it that is free to watch, in any form.
What our Mononoke pages hold
Our index records Mononoke as a 2007 television series with 12 episodes, tagged Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Psychological and Supernatural. Alongside it sit a page for each of the three films and a page for a 2025 television series our index lists as The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei. All five of those pages were fetched from animesphere.app today, and all five loaded. Not one of them states a free episode count. The television series page is headed "Watch Mononoke Online", which is the wording our pages use when nothing on them is free. A page that does have something free reads "Free Online" instead.
The free mystery shelf is mostly single episodes
Widening out from one title to the television entries tagged Mystery gives a clearer picture. Our index records 428 of them. Every one of those 428 pages was fetched from animesphere.app today: 428 loaded, none failed. Of those, 23 state a free episode count, and between them those 23 pages account for 122 episodes.
The shape of that number matters more than its size. 15 of the 23 state exactly one episode. The two largest are Cat's Eye, whose page states 36, and Sherlock Hound, whose page states 26, and those are counts our pages show rather than runs we opened today.
The three we opened today
Three of the 23 were checked upload by upload:
- We Rent Tsukumogami, a 2018 television series with a 25-minute episode length
- ODDTAXI, a 2021 television series with a 24-minute episode length
- In/Spectre, a 2020 television series with a 24-minute episode length
We Rent Tsukumogami is the substantial one. Its page states 11 episodes free, which is 11 of the 12 our index records. All 11 opened today as 11 distinct videos, with none filed twice. Every one sits on Anime! on TMS Official Channel, which carries a YouTube verified badge, and every one runs 1,500 seconds against that 25-minute length, so these are full episodes. The audio is Japanese, and there is no separate English caption file to switch on. In one of those uploads the English sits in the picture itself: the series title rendered in English across the Japanese title card, and a sign captioned in English. The rows allow the United States.
ODDTAXI and In/Spectre each state one free episode, both on the verified Crunchyroll channel, both titled as English dubs, running 1,440 and 1,450 seconds. Neither row is region gated.
