New Free Anime This Week — Fresh Legal Episodes (Jul 2026)

The free anime catalog is not a fixed thing. Rights holders post new official uploads every week — full episodes, on their own YouTube channels, free with ads — and almost nobody tracks it. As of July 18, 2026, the last two weeks alone brought first-time verified free sources for 2,045 episodes across 49 series in our US-viewable anime index, including 45 series that had never had a free episode here before. The live tracker below updates every hour.

How we count — and why our number looks different

Most "new this week" claims online are feed deltas: count everything that appeared in a database recently and call it new. That number lies, because verification systems re-check and re-stamp old entries constantly. We count differently, and it is worth being precise about it:

• An episode counts as NEW only the first time our index ever verifies a free official source for it. Re-checks of episodes we already had can never inflate the total.
• Every counted episode must be live right now: official, free, embeddable, and US-viewable. Sources that died since being added do not count.
• "New" honestly mixes two things: brand-new uploads from the rights holders, and older official uploads that our verification reached for the first time. Both are new to you as a viewer — neither existed in the free catalog two weeks ago.

What arrived

The ranked list below is computed live, but this window's shape is worth narrating, because it shows how the free catalog actually grows.

The giants first: the classic Pokémon runs arrived — the original series and Ruby & Sapphire, hundreds of episodes from The Official Pokémon YouTube channel, big enough that they earned a full guide of their own (linked below). Alongside them came a mountain of Chibi Maruko-chan, the beloved family staple whose official channel opened well over a thousand episodes, and complete official runs of the Monster Strike anime.

Then the deep cuts, which are this page's quiet joy: After War Gundam X, a 90s mecha entry that Gundam's official channels opened up — twenty-seven episodes of a series most western fans have never had a legal way to sample. High School! Kimengumi, an 80s gag-comedy institution. A children's slice-of-life or two. None of these will top a trending chart, and that is the point: every fortnight, some show that spent decades unavailable quietly becomes free, and a tracker is the only way anyone notices.
