A new Kochikame lands in 2027, and most free episodic runs stop early
Of 537 episodic television entries, 43 state a free episode count on our pages: 11 complete runs, 29 partial, and 15 of those partials are a single episode.

A new Kochikame anime arrives in 2027, and a video has named its main cast and staff. M.A.O and Fukushi Ochiai are among the performers named, and the production marks fifty years of the manga, as Anime News Network reports.
The announced series already sits in our index as Shin Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo, with no format, no year and no episode count, only the genres Comedy and Slice of Life. It links to the 1996 television series and a 1985 special. The 1996 series is the one our index tags "Episodic", at rank 66 of 100.
That tag is worth a census, because a run that stops early is the ordinary case here.
The census, including the part that hurts
We swept the 537 television entries carrying AniList's "Episodic" tag at rank 60 or higher, where the tag is central rather than incidental. All 537 returned HTTP 200 on both passes, and not one changed its count or language note between them.
43 of the 537 state a free episode count. Against the episode totals our index records, they split three ways: 11 reach or pass the recorded total, 29 fall short of it, and 3 have no recorded total at all. 11 plus 29 plus 3 is 43.
The trouble is inside the 29. Fifteen of those partial runs state exactly one episode. One episode is a sample, not a season, and no amount of episodic structure changes that.
The 43 state 2,265 episodes, but 1,247 of that comes from one unplaceable entry, Chibi Maruko-chan, where our own audit found the channel re-uploading episodes, so the figure counts upload slots rather than distinct ones. Without it the other 42 state 1,018, of which two Pokemon entries hold 451.
Where Kochikame lands, and two of the eleven
The 1996 series is one of the 29. Its page states 12 free episodes against the 344 our index records for it, all 12 from "It's Anime powered by REMOW", a verified YouTube channel. Episodes 1, 6 and 12 all played today from a United States request, titled Full Episode 01, 06 and 12, matching the numbers we store, each running 1,551 seconds against a recorded 26 minutes. Those three pages each report an authored English subtitle track beside an automatic Japanese caption track: Japanese audio, real English subtitles.
Eleven runs in this census reach the end. We opened two, both from "Anime! on TMS Official Channel", also verified.
- Sherlock Hound, 1984, 26 episodes recorded and 26 free. Episodes 1, 13 and 26 all played today from a United States request, titled EP01, EP13 and EP26, each running 1,504 seconds against a recorded 25 minutes. Those three pages report an automatic English caption track, evidence the audio is English; the titles read "English Dub".
- Cybersix, 1999, 13 episodes recorded and 13 free. Episodes 1, 7 and 13 all played today, titled EP01, EP07 and EP13, running 1,453, 1,441 and 1,441 seconds against a recorded 23 minutes. Those pages report no caption track at all, so "English Dub" in the titles is the channel's own label and the only language evidence we have.
Across Kochikame, Sherlock Hound and Cybersix: no duplicate episode identities, no video filed against two episode numbers, no retired row still marked playable.
