Two more voice actors have joined the Red River anime. Sōma Saitō has been cast as an Egyptian general named User Ramses, and Shun Horie plays Juda, a Hittite prince, in his younger years, per Anime News Network.
Our index holds the series as Red River, original title Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori: a television series in the summer 2026 season, currently airing, with episode 8 listed as next. Its live page on animesphere.app states no free episode count. There is nothing of Red River free on AnimeSphere.
What the historical shelf holds
AniList tags anime entries descriptively. Our index carries 420 television entries under the tag "Historical", all checked against their live pages on animesphere.app today. 26 state a free episode count, coming to 220 free episodes between them. 12 of the 26 state exactly one free episode.
The depth is concentrated in a few old shows. Four titles account for 136 of the 220 episodes, all first broadcast before 1990:
- Heidi, Girl of the Alps, 1974, states 51 free episodes.
- Lady Oscar: The Rose of Versailles, 1979, states 40 free episodes.
- Sherlock Hound, 1984, states 26 free episodes.
- Ninja the Wonder Boy, 1979, states 19 free episodes, and its page notes Japanese audio.
The remaining 22 entries share 84 episodes between them.
The largest count is a Spanish run
Heidi, Girl of the Alps states the biggest number on this shelf at 51 episodes, and its live page attaches no language note. Its uploads were probed today: they sit on a channel named "Heidi - Español", the audio track is Spanish, no English subtitle track is exposed at all, and the titles are written in Spanish. So the largest count here is a Spanish language run, and the page does not currently say so.
What plays in English today
Sherlock Hound states 26 free episodes against a recorded 26, so that is the complete run. The uploads come from "Anime! on TMS Official Channel", which carries a YouTube verified badge. Episodes 1 and 26 were probed today: the audio on each is English, the titles label themselves an English dub and full episodes, and each runs 1,504 seconds against a recorded 25 minutes. It is the one complete English dubbed run verified here today.
Brave 10 states 12 free episodes against a recorded 12, also complete, on the same verified channel. Episodes 1 and 12 were probed today. The audio is Japanese and no authored English subtitle track is exposed, so the question was settled from the preview frames: one carries the English line "Forgive me. I had to see what we were up against." burned into the picture rather than switchable. They run 1,497 and 1,400 seconds against a recorded 24 minutes.
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked states 7 free episodes with a note reading "Japanese audio", and our index records it as a 2026 television series. The uploads come from "It's Anime powered by REMOW", no verified badge, no country restriction. Episodes 1 and 7 each report an authored English subtitle track alongside Brazilian Portuguese and Mexican Spanish, and each runs 1,431 seconds against a recorded 24 minutes. That is Japanese audio with real English subtitles rather than a dub, and the newest title here verified as watchable in English today.
