A video has revealed that the new Sgt. Frog television series begins on 3 October. The voice cast is entirely new, and Makoto Koichi is among the performers. The announcement was reported by Anime News Network.
Our index holds Sgt. Frog as a television series that began in 2004, with 358 episodes recorded, tagged Comedy and Sci-Fi. We hold ten entries in the franchise in total: the 2004 television series, a short-form television series from 2014, six films dated 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2026, and two specials from 2008 and 2009. All ten pages were read on animesphere.app today, twice. Every read returned HTTP 200 and nothing changed between the two passes. Every one of the ten states no free episode, and our database holds no free episode row of any kind for any of them.
The tag Sgt. Frog sits under
Our index carries fine-grained descriptive tags, and 254 entries carry the tag "Otaku Culture". Sgt. Frog carries it at rank 85 out of 100. Those 254 break down as 148 television series, 26 ONA, 25 OVA, 22 short-form television series, 15 films, 9 specials and 9 music videos.
All 254 pages were read today, then read a second time. All 508 reads returned HTTP 200, and not one page changed its episode count or its language note between the passes. Nine of the 254 state a free episode count, and between them they state 15 episodes. Seven of those nine state exactly one. Six of the nine state no language note, and three state "Japanese audio".
One of the nine is misfiled
The largest count in the census belongs to a 2026 television series we record as 5 episodes, its title ending with the words "Next Shine". Its page states 5 free episodes. Those five uploads are the same five videos that also sit on the page for the 2025 series of almost the same name, and the uploads title themselves "S1:E1" through "S1:E5". They are first-season episodes counted on the sequel's page. So of the 15 episodes the census states, 5 are misfiled. Ten episodes across eight entries are not.
The three episodes we opened
My Dress-Up Darling is in our index as a 2022 television series, 12 episodes recorded, tagged Comedy, Ecchi, Romance and Slice of Life. It carries "Otaku Culture" at rank 91, higher than Sgt. Frog does. Its page states 3 free episodes and no language note, on both passes, and our database holds three rows, episodes 1, 2 and 3, all from the channel "Crunchyroll", with no country restriction recorded on any of them.
All three uploads were opened today and all three resolved. The channel carries a YouTube verified badge. The upload titles read "My Dress-Up Darling Episode 1", "Episode 2" and "Episode 3", each matching the number we store against it. Each runs 1,430 seconds against a recorded episode length of 24 minutes, and all three report as playable from a United States request. Each exposes an authored English caption track alongside an automatic Japanese one. An automatic track is generated from the soundtrack, so this is Japanese audio carrying real written English subtitles. No upload is filed against two different episode numbers, and none of the three sits under a second series.
