Transformers: The Movie Returns in 4K, and It Is the Gap in Our Catalogue

What was announced

Anime News Network reported on 26 July 2026 that The Transformers: The Movie is heading back to cinemas in the US and the UK on September 17, in a 4K re-release. Attached to it is a chapter that has not been shown before, screening after the credits roll.

That is the whole of what was disclosed, no distributor, no runtime, no cinema list, and no hint of what the new chapter holds. Anyone hoping for more detail will have to wait for it.

The film is the gap in our catalogue

Here is the honest position. We hold a record for The Transformers: The Movie, filed as a 1986 film, credited to Toei Animation, and that record has no video rows behind it at all. Zero. There is no free way to watch it on AnimeSphere, in any form, and a theatrical run is not something we can index. If seeing this specific film is the goal, a cinema on September 17 is the route, not us.

That is a different channel from the Generation 1 uploads. The 14 are episodes 1 through 14, contiguous, so it is a clean opening stretch rather than scattered leftovers.
