What was announced
A new teaser visual for the second season of *Tune In to the Midnight Heart* (*Mayonaka Heart Tune*) has been released, along with additional voice cast and a 2027 premiere window. Anime Corner carried the announcement.
The first season aired in Winter 2026 as a twelve-episode run, so a 2027 return keeps the gap relatively short for a romantic comedy of this size. That matters more here than it would elsewhere, because the series is built around a question it has not yet answered — and audiences tend to stop caring about a mystery long before a studio finishes telling it.
The second season already has a catalogue entry on AnimeSphere, so its episode listings will populate there as the premiere approaches.
Why this one has an audience
The premise is more specific than the usual school romcom. A boy who got through his worst nights listening to an anonymous late-night radio voice goes looking for her years later, with no name and no face to go on. The search points him at his school's broadcasting club, and at four girls who all want to build careers on their voices.
That structure lets the show run two engines at once. There's the identity puzzle — any of the four could be the host — and underneath it, a fairly grounded story about wanting to work in voice acting. The first season scored a 73 average on AniList: respectable rather than a breakout, which is roughly where the show sits in the broader Winter 2026 conversation.
Studio Gekkou produced the first season. No staff or studio details for the second have been confirmed in the announcement, so treat any assumption of a straight return as just that.
What's free on AnimeSphere right now
Straight answer: *Tune In to the Midnight Heart* is not currently streamable free on our site. Its catalogue page tracks availability, so it will appear there if that changes.
Here's what we do carry free and legally that scratches the same itch:
- **There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless…** — all 12 episodes. A Summer 2025 romcom running on the same fuel of mutual misreading and stubborn pride, and one of the better-rated ones in our free catalogue.
- **Actually, I Am** — all 13 episodes. The purest "she is hiding what she really is and he has no idea" show we have free. If the appeal of *Midnight Heart* is watching someone miss the obvious, this is the pattern in its plainest form.
- **There was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her** — first 3 episodes free of 13. Another Gekkou production from Winter 2026, if you want a sense of what the studio has been putting out most recently.
