Every list of free Korean drama sites has the same problem: it is a list of sites, not a list of dramas. You are told where you might find something, and then you go there, and the thing you wanted is behind a subscription or a region wall or was never there at all.
So this is the other kind of page. It names the dramas, it counts the episodes, and the counts are live.
As of July 2026 our index verifies 189 free, English-subtitled K-drama episodes across six series, all from KBS World TV. Every one plays here, inline, without an account.
Why one channel does all the work
KBS is Korea's public broadcaster, and KBS World is the international arm it built specifically to put Korean programming in front of non-Korean audiences. Subtitles are not a courtesy there, they are the entire purpose, the uploads carry English and Chinese tracks as standard, and several carry Indonesian, Vietnamese and Malay as well.
That is a fundamentally different relationship to the one every free-drama aggregator has with the same episodes. KBS World is the broadcaster publishing its own broadcasts. The aggregators are re-hosting them. The episode is identical; the legality, the video quality, and the number of pop-ups are not.
It also explains why the catalogue looks the way it does. This is not a curated best-of. It is what a public broadcaster chose to make internationally available, which means the shape of the list is a little idiosyncratic and quite a lot better than curated lists usually are.
What is here
The Promise is the headline, and it is the rare case where the free run is the whole run: 102 episodes, complete, in order. It is a daily drama, which is a genre Western viewers rarely encounter and which rewards a completely different viewing rhythm, shorter scenes, faster plot, a melodramatic engine that never idles. If you have ever wanted a show that will simply keep going, this is 102 episodes of exactly that.
You Are the Best! is 50 episodes and worth it for one specific reason beyond its own considerable charm: it is IU's first leading role, at twenty-one, before she was the actor everyone now knows. KBS says so in the video titles themselves.
Discovery of Love is the tidy one, sixteen episodes, a romance about exes reassembling their lives around each other, the format at its most efficient. Master of Study is the school drama with an unusually sharp class-politics streak. My Golden Life and Hwang Jini round out the list with shorter free runs.
What I left out, and why that matters more than what I left in
There is a second source of free Korean drama in our catalogue: a web-drama channel with several popular series on it. It is not on this page, and the reason is the most useful thing in this article.
I checked every upload behind this list against the actual video rather than trusting our database, and the web-drama entries do not line up. Their episode numbering includes recap videos, bonus scenes and season summaries as if those were episodes, so clicking episode one of a series plays a spoiler-laden retrospective, and one title has the same video registered as two different episodes. The database is confident about all of it. The database is wrong.
That is not a small distinction for a drama. Walking into episode three of an anime out of order is a mild annoyance; walking into a K-drama's season summary as your first episode ruins the entire thing. So those series stay off this list until the mapping is fixed. An incomplete honest list beats a complete misleading one, and if you have used free-drama sites you already know which kind you usually get.
The same check kept a 46-episode variety show off the page. It is filed as drama in our catalogue, it is not drama, and none of its uploads carry a confirmed English track.
How to tell a legal free K-drama source from the other kind
This is the actually useful skill, and it takes about ten seconds.
Ask who is publishing. A legal free source is the broadcaster, the studio, or the licensed distributor putting up its own programming, KBS World, MBC's official channel, SBS's, or a licensed service like Viki or Tubi running ads. If the name of the site is not the name of a company that makes or licenses television, it is not one of those.
Ask what the business model is. Broadcasters monetise with advertising they sell themselves, which is why their uploads have ordinary ads and nothing else. Aggregators monetise with ad networks that will take anyone's money, which is why they have pop-unders, fake play buttons and download prompts. A page that fights you for a click is telling you exactly what it is.
Ask whether the catalogue is too good. This is the giveaway. No legal free source has everything, because nobody owns everything, rights are sold drama by drama and territory by territory. A free site with every K-drama you have heard of, all in HD, all subtitled, did not license any of it. Our list has six series on it, and the shortness is the credential.
How to watch these
Press play. That is the whole thing. There is no sign-up, no card, no trial, and no VPN. Every episode counted here was confirmed viewable from the United States, and any title that becomes region-restricted drops off this page automatically instead of sitting here as a dead link.
If you want a recommendation rather than a menu: start with Discovery of Love if you have sixteen episodes of attention to give, and The Promise if you want something that will still be there in a month.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I watch Korean dramas free with English subtitles?
KBS World TV, the international channel of Korea's public broadcaster, publishes full K-drama episodes on YouTube with English subtitles built in. AnimeSphere indexes those uploads and plays them inline, so the episode counts on this page are the actual number of episodes you can watch, not a catalogue listing.
Is KBS World TV legal and free?
Both. KBS is Korea's public broadcaster and KBS World is its own international arm, the uploads are the broadcaster publishing its own programming, ad-supported and free by design. That is a different thing from the drama-streaming aggregators that rank for this search, which re-host the same episodes without a licence.
Do I need an account or a VPN?
Neither. Every series on this page plays without signing up, and the uploads indexed here are viewable from the United States as-is. If a title ever becomes region-restricted, it drops off this list automatically rather than sitting here as a broken promise.
Which K-drama should I start with?
The Promise is the longest complete run available free here, a daily-format family melodrama that rewards a long binge. Discovery of Love is the tidiest sixteen-episode romance, and You Are the Best! is worth it for a very young IU in her first leading role.
Why are some K-dramas missing from this list?
Because we could not verify them. Several web-drama channels number their uploads in a way that mixes recap and bonus videos in with real episodes, so clicking episode three can play a season summary. Those series are excluded until the mapping is fixed, an incomplete honest list beats a complete misleading one.
