Although he studied to become a dentist at a university in Prague, he would ultimately quit university and join the rock band "Mefisto", with which he collaborated as a pianist in the 50s and 60s. He's deemed to be one of the most successful and iconic Czech composers of popular music, having worked for numerous Czech singers (such as Karel Gott) and writing scores for about 900 national and international films and TV shows, some of them being children's anime.
