Twitter Yamada graduated from the Department of Literature at Keio University. While attending the university he was in the same year as the Macross character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto and creator Shouji Kawamori, both of which where the first people he collaborated with in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. This marked the start of his scriptwriting career.
