Complete Anime Series You Can Watch Free. Every Episode

Every "free anime" article you have ever read has the same structural lie in it. It tells you a platform has a series. It does not tell you whether you can finish it.

That distinction is the whole game. Starting an anime is free everywhere; finishing one is where the free tier quietly runs out, three episodes in, the run stops, and the rest is behind a subscription, a region wall, or nothing at all. So this list answers the only question that actually matters: which series can I start tonight and watch all the way to the end, legally, without paying or signing up for anything?

As of July 2026, our index verifies 30 of them. Thirty complete runs, 723 episodes, where every single episode is an official, free, English-watchable upload viewable from the United States. The live list is further down this page, and it is computed at the moment you load it, not typed out by hand.

What "complete" means here, precisely

A series qualifies only when the number of distinct free episodes we can verify is at least the series' own total episode count. Not "most of it". Not "season one". All of it.

Four gates run on every episode before it counts:

It has to be **official**, an upload from the studio, the licensor, or the rights holder's own channel. Aggregator mirrors are not indexed here at all, so they cannot inflate a count.

It has to be **free** and playable without an account. If a title needs a login, a trial, or a card, it is not on this page.

It has to be **embeddable and alive**. Uploads get pulled, privated, and region-restricted constantly. Ours are re-checked automatically and dead ones drop out.

It has to be **viewable from the United States**, and it has to be **watchable in English**. Those two are the gates that quietly break every hand-written list on the internet, and they deserve their own section.

The two traps that make other lists wrong

The first is region. A YouTube channel can look overflowing with full episodes and play absolutely nothing where you are sitting. Rights are sold territory by territory, so a studio uploading its back catalogue often has the rights to show it in Southeast Asia and nowhere else. We hit this constantly, some of the most popular "free on YouTube" titles in the world are, for a US viewer, zero episodes. Every count on this page filters for US viewability first.

The second is language, and it is subtler. An upload can be tagged English and be nothing of the kind. While building this list we found an entire 67-episode run, a complete, official, genuinely free series, that our index had marked as English and which is, in fact, the Portuguese-subtitled version from the rights holder's Brazilian channel. It would have made a wonderful entry. It would also have been a lie to every American who clicked it. It is not on this list, and the check that caught it now runs over the whole catalogue.

This is the boring, unglamorous part of doing this properly, and it is the only reason a list like this is worth more than the ones written from memory.

What is actually on the list

The shape of it surprised me. Complete free runs are not distributed the way you would guess. They cluster hard around studios that made a deliberate decision to open their back catalogue.

TMS Entertainment is the single biggest reason this page exists. Its official channel carries full, English-subtitled runs of a genuinely strange and wonderful cross-section: **Yowamushi Pedal** and its sequel season, the entire 38-episode climb plus 24 more; **Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple**, all 50 episodes of the best training-montage comedy of the 2000s; **Magic Knight Rayearth**, CLAMP's 20-episode isekai before isekai was a word; **Sherlock Hound**, the Miyazaki-directed one; **Cybersix**; **God Mars**. These are complete series, uploaded on purpose, subtitled by the people who own them.

Then there are the franchise channels, which behave completely differently. Card-game and toy properties, Cardfight!! Vanguard, BanG Dream!'s PICO shorts, Monster Strike, publish full seasons free as a matter of course, because the anime is advertising for the product. That is why a card game you have never played accounts for a chunk of this list. It is also why those runs tend to be reliably complete: nobody is going to yank the marketing.

If you want a recommendation rather than a ranking: start with Yowamushi Pedal if you have never binged a sports series and want to understand why people do; Kenichi if you want to laugh; Magic Knight Rayearth if you want to see the genre's foundations.

Why studios give away complete series

It looks like a mistake and it is not. A back-catalogue title is nearly worthless to a subscription service. It does not win subscribers and it costs shelf space. On an ad-supported channel, the same series earns steadily, forever, at near-zero marginal cost, while advertising the franchise it belongs to. For a studio sitting on decades of library, uploading a 1990s series is cheaper and more effective than buying ads for the current one.

Understanding that is what tells you which "free" is stable. Free-because-marketing is durable. Free-because-a-promotion is not.

The honest caveat

This list will change, and it is supposed to. When a licence lapses or a channel retires an upload, the series stops being complete and disappears from this page automatically. A list that can only grow is a list that has stopped checking.
