Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Review — two lives, one crowded season

Here's my read: Seirei Gensouki is a better show than its reputation whenever it stands still, and a worse one whenever it moves — which is a problem, because it never stops moving. This 2021 fantasy gives its hero a genuinely interesting burden: memories of a modern life awakening inside a slum orphan in a rigid, class-stratified world, two selves negotiating one body. The early episodes mine that friction well. Being lowborn with highborn knowledge is a real predicament, and the show's drama beats — resentment from above, suspicion from below — land with actual weight.

The action holds up its end too. Fights are brief but legible, staged so you can track who's winning and why, and the spirit-arts power system stays consistent enough that escalation feels like consequence rather than convenience.
