Watch Yakitate!! Japan Free: All 69 Episodes
The whole baking tournament, English subtitled, from the rights holder. The streaming guides do not list it, and it has been sitting there in full.

Yakitate!! Japan is a tournament anime in which the tournament is bread, the special moves are bread, and the reaction shots are the reason anyone remembers it. All 69 episodes are free, English subtitled, posted by the rights holder.
That last part is the surprising bit. Search for where to watch this show and you will be handed Crunchyroll, RetroCrush, a purchase link and a couple of aggregator pages. None of them mention that the complete run has been sitting on an official YouTube channel the whole time.
What it is, for anyone who has only heard the jokes
Kazuma Azuma has unnaturally warm hands, which turns out to be a genuine advantage in dough fermentation, and a national ambition: to invent Ja-pan, a bread worthy of Japan the way France has French bread.
From that, the show builds a straight-faced shonen tournament structure. Rivals with signature techniques. A training montage. A panel of judges. Escalating stakes across a national competition and then an international one.
The joke, and it is a very durable joke, is that the judges' reactions to a good loaf are animated as full-scale supernatural events. People are transported to other planes of existence by a croissant. The show is completely committed to this and never once winks at you.
Does it hold up
Better than most comedies of its era, and for a specific reason: the food is real.
Underneath the reaction gags is an anime that actually knows about baking. Fermentation times, gluten development, why certain flours behave the way they do, why Japanese wheat was historically a problem for European-style bread. That material is correct, and it is what gives the escalation something to push against. The absurdity works because the fundamentals are not absurd.
The 2004 production shows its age in the usual places. Limited animation in the non-reaction scenes, a palette that has not aged gracefully, an opening that is very much of its moment. None of that matters much in a show whose visual peaks are deliberately, gloriously stupid.
The one honest caveat is length. This is a long run and the middle stretch of the international arc sags. It is a show to keep going rather than to binge, which is exactly what a free episode grid is good for.
How we know the run is real
Every free run indexed here goes through the same check, and this one passed all of it.
The uploads state their own episode numbers and those numbers match the slots they are filed under, which is not a given: the most common defect we find is one video registered as two different episodes, and it is why several well-known series never appear on our lists.
Each upload's length is checked against what a full episode should run, so a clip cannot pose as an episode. And the subtitles were confirmed to be an authored English track rather than a machine translation, which is the difference between watching the show and guessing at it.
The uploads are labelled multi-sub because the same file carries several languages. English is one of them.
Where to start
Episode 1, and if you are unsure, judge it on the first reaction shot rather than the setup. The show announces exactly what it is within about eight minutes, and if that lands, everything after it is the same thing at greater volume.
The episode grid below is generated from the live catalog, so if a video is ever pulled, the grid changes with it.
As of September 2026, AnimeSphere indexes 69 free official episodes of Yakitate!! Japan, published with English subtitles by It's Anime (REMOW) and playable in the United States with no account and no app.
Every episode, in order
Each number opens that episode in the page. The grid is generated from the live catalog, so if an upload is ever pulled the grid changes with it.

Five uploads across the run were opened and checked: each states the episode number it is filed under, each plays from a United States request, and each carries an authored English subtitle track over Japanese audio. Runtimes match a full episode rather than a clip.

Frequently asked questions
How many episodes of Yakitate!! Japan are free?
All 69. The complete series is posted by It's Anime, the REMOW channel, and plays in the AnimeSphere page in order with no episode missing.
Is Yakitate!! Japan free with English subtitles?
Yes. The uploads carry Japanese audio and an authored English subtitle track, not a machine translation. They are labelled multi-sub because the same upload also carries several other languages.
Where else can I watch it?
Crunchyroll and RetroCrush both carry the series, and RetroCrush is free with ads. Those are legitimate routes. The difference here is that the YouTube run needs no app and no account, and the episodes play inside the page.
Is it worth 69 episodes about bread?
It is a tournament shonen where the tournament is baking, and it commits to that completely. The reaction sequences are the joke and they escalate for the entire run. If the first three episodes land, the other 66 are the same show, only more so.
Is watching it here legal?
Yes. The uploads are the rights holder's own and AnimeSphere embeds them, so the view goes to the channel that posted it. Nothing is copied or re-hosted.
