That premise converts every match into a battle-royale set piece, and the show paces it like one — clean escalation, clear stakes, a new wrinkle introduced every arc before the last one goes stale.

As pure action filmmaking, the matches read beautifully. You always know where the ball is, who is marking whom, and what each player's signature weapon actually does, so when a play breaks open it lands like a counterpunch you saw loading a half-second too late. The psychology is the real engine, though. Watching a polite, team-first kid learn to want the goal more than he wants approval is genuinely sharp character work, and the rival strikers are specific enough that you start picking favorites against your will.

One honest caveat: anyone who loves actual football tactics should check that reverence at the door. This is shonen logic in a stadium, and real positional play bends whenever the drama needs it to.
