Attack on Titan Review — Terror as Momentum
Twenty-five episodes of siege warfare, vertigo-inducing maneuver combat, and a hook that never lets your pulse settle.

A relentless first season that turns pure dread into forward motion; essential action television.

A head crests the wall. That single image — something too big to fight looking down at a city that thought it was safe — does more setup work in one shot than most shows manage in three episodes. From there, Attack on Titan moves like a chase scene that never fully ends: the walls fall, Eren makes his vow, and the series starts converting grief into velocity.
What makes it sing as action is readability. The omni-directional gear gives every fight a clear geometry — height, momentum, anchor points — so even when the camera is whipping through the air, you always know where the danger is and what a kill requires. The mystery layer works too: the show doles out questions about the titans and the walls at exactly the rate needed to keep the drama from becoming a monster-of-the-week grind.
The caveat The pacing isn't bulletproof. A stretch in the season's middle third leans hard on courtroom talk, strategy meetings, and characters restating stakes we already feel, and the momentum visibly sags before the next operation kicks in. But when it accelerates, nothing in 2013's class touches it. All 25 episodes are streaming free here, and it earns a full-season binge.
